The southernmost of the Gulf Islands was a wonderful place to spend the weekend.

LOVE/HATE. It's a common tattoo. It's a common struggle with vices, life, lovers, and so much more. I was stumbling through some film scans and found these, and so many more. I don't have the best film scanner, and the preciousness of film makes it harder to push the shutter release than it does on a digital camera. And I'm always a bit disappointed by the images I get from film. I'm always reluctant to do any post production on film because it interferes with the sanctity of film, musses with its pureness. Film should be, well, just film, and the pictures you get are the pictures you get.

When I scanned these I was disappointed. They ended up in a directory on a hard drive that I never look at and then today I found them. Too much dust. Too grainy. Mediocre resolution. By almost every metric; film isn't as good as a good quality, full frame sensor digital camera mated to a quality lens. And I like them all. A lot. There were another half dozen I might have posted, maybe another dozen. Maybe more.

It's time to shoot more film. I mean, how much longer are they going to make the stuff? Five years? Three?I'm not sure I'd even bet on three.
